As the only international name on the schedule, Jonathan Simkhai was one of the most anticipated shows of the week for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.
The LA-based designer chose to stage his show at the iconic North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club with a setting sky as his backdrop, at what he calls “magic hour”. It was easy to see Simkhai’s inspiration as beautiful gowns in cabernets, blushes and tangerines came down the runway.
Simkhai presented covetable pieces outside of his signature lace styles with clashing scarf prints and feminine tailoring. "There are two new custom prints that will be incorporated throughout and these are some of my favourite pieces. I love them because they feel very California while still feeling representative of the allure in Sydney."
Showcasing a collection for the modern woman, we couldn't wait to hear what was next for the American designer. Simkhai explains they are "focusing on expanding our latest swim, denim and lingerie collections."
