Filming is officially underway in Sydney on the second series of The Secret Daughter.
While Jessica Mauboy is busy with her singing career, fans will appreciate that she’s found the time to reprise her Logie-nominated role of Billie Carter.
In October last year, Jess described her role on the show as her "proudest" achievement.
"It was scary because I didn't know who was going to have my back at the end of the day," she told the Sydney Morning Herald of her role as the first Indigenous lead in a drama series. "I kept thinking, 'Am I doing the right thing for my community? Am I representing them well enough?'"
"On a person level, it was something I wanted to see growing up. To be blunt, I never got to see Indigenous faces on commercial TV. I had to watch ABC or SBS."
The 27-year-old will join fellow cast-mates Matt Levett, David Field, Rachel Gordon, Bonnie Sveen, Jared Turner, Jordan Hare, Terry Serio and J.R. Reyne this season.
Plus, newcomers to the show include former Neighbours actor James Sweeny and Rachael Maza of Radiance.
Congratulations to the star!
