“How entitled do you have to be to think that you have it rough?” Westbrook asks in her video. “You are a 19-year-old millionaire. You do not get to wake up and stress about how unfair your job is. That is so ridiculous to me.
“Get off your high horse and have some respect. You don’t have any for the people who are in the industry and that’s a sad fact.”
She also says that Charles repeatedly refused to promote her vitamin brand, Halo Beauty, because he said it would be inappropriate for his young teenage audience – something that rang hollow once he signed his own deal to promote a rival vitamin brand.
She also accused the YouTuber of using his celebrity to pressure straight men into sex and making sexually aggressive remarks.
She describes a time that Charles went to dinner with her family. “You were talking in detail about things you’d like to do the waiter, and when I said ‘James he’s straight’ your response was ‘doesn’t matter, I’m a celebrity,’…and you said this in front of my family.”
James Charles posted an 8-minute apology video in response to Westbrook’s attack.
“What sucks the most is that I know there’s nothing I can say or do to ever earn that friendship or trust back,” he said. “That’s all I have to say. I’m sorry."
Westbrook has not responded to his apology.
