To mark the tenth anniversary of InStyle and Audi’s Women of Style awards, we hosted an intimate breakfast with supporting sponsor Georg Jensen.
Given the date coincides with the unveiling of our May issue, which features a portfolio of ten of our WOS alumni, we invited a select group of female trailblazers to bring the message of the awards to life.
The inspiring group of women who came together at Sydney’s Chiswick restaurant included leaders in science, business, fashion, social justice, beauty and entertainment, boasting a list of combined achievements that proves style is more than just the clothes you wear.
2017 Readers Choice winner Sally Obermeder addressed our impressive guests and alumni at the event, encouraging women to be their own cheerleaders and noting a rousing speech by Layne Beachley at last year’s awards show as a turning point which inspired a shift in her attitude.
‘‘I thought: ‘No more will I say [my achievements] are nothing.’ I wasn’t just doing myself a disservice, I was also doing other women a disservice. ‘‘[My achievements] are results of long hours and many sacrifices ... These things don’t magically happen. Yes, there are moments of good fortune, but they are not luck; you never wake up and someone just hands you all of these things.’’
The Georg Jensen table setting and stunning decor by Grand Flora were inspired by the moody floral motif of our latest cover, staring Delta Goodrem.
To say thank you, our guests were gifted a piece of jewellery selected personally from a bespoke Georg Jensen collection.
