We live in an age of instant gratification, and it’s an attitude that doesn’t just apply to our online shopping habit: we want glowing, younger-looking skin fast, too. While you might think it’s too good to be true, improving your complexion’s tone and texture in as little as two weeks is possible – you just need to know the right approach.
Below, five instant fixes for healthier, plumper, brighter skin – scroll to the end for the Australian brand that promises a younger-looking complexion in just a fortnight. Don’t believe us? Keep reading…
1/ Start masking
Masking: it’s not just good for selfies. Find the right face mask and your skin will thank you for it. Dry skin types or anyone interested in anti-ageing (isn’t everyone?!) will benefit from a weekly hydration hit – look for moisturising sheet masks loaded with hyaluronic acid to instantly plump and revive. If your complexion tends towards combination, try a charcoal or clay mask to help clear pores and keep breakouts at bay: we like the Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Mask. Depending on the mask’s intensity, use once or twice a week – any less often and you won’t notice as much of an effect.
2/ Exfoliate (but gently!)
Skin on the dull, dry or flaky side? Regular exfoliation will fix that. Slough off dead skin cells without causing irritation by adding a muslin cloth to your cleansing routine and you’ll notice the difference in a matter of days. Supplement this with a slightly more intense weekly exfoliation using a fine grain, powder or chemical exfoliator depending on your skin type. The result? Brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.
3/ Wear sunscreen
We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: apply sunscreen daily. The sun is the biggest cause of premature ageing for Australian women – think fine lines and pigmentation – but a lesser-known fact is that it also aggravates acne and blemishes. See also: skin cancer.
4/ Get more sleep
A quick poll of the InStyle office shows the two factors we blame for bad skin: stress and lack of sleep. Sadly, the two go hand in hand (and they usually take eating badly along for the ride). Make it your mission to get the recommended eight hours’ a night and your skin will reward your efforts with a whole lot more glow (and a whole lot less fine lines too).
5/ Take the ultimate skincare challenge
Australian natural skincare brand Sukin is so confident in the anti-ageing powers of its newly reformulated Purely Ageless range, they’ve proposed a 14 Day Challenge: use the range for 14 days and you’ll see up to 78 per cent less wrinkles. It’s a big claim, but they have the science to back it up: thanks to natural active ingredients Pure Ribose, Paracress Extract, Crambe oil, White Hibiscus and Baobab, the Purely Ageless collection has been proven to increase skin hydration, reduce the surfaces of wrinkles, boost plumpness and smooth skin in as little as two weeks.
