When it comes to engagement ring trends in 2017, bespoke luxury jeweller Matthew Ely says brides-to-be are adopting a general 'bigger is better' approach when it comes to selecting their perfect sparkler. So how much are today's couples actually spending?
In mywedding Australia's tenth biannual Cost of Love survey, which involved over 1,000 engaged and recently married Australian women, it was revealed that couples are spending an average of $6,143 on an engagement ring – a decrease of 11 per cent in the last two years.
While engaged couples are cutting costs when it comes to the ring, figures showed that the cost of a wedding is at an all-time high.
According to the results, the average cost of an Aussie wedding is now $90,128 which has increased by 4 per cent in the last two years and doubled in the last decade.
The figure represents a staggering 75% of the average Australian couple’s annual income and is $30,000 more than the average Australian's personal income.
