Ellen Pompeo has addressed the "unfortunate" report that she played any role in the latest Grey's Anatomy cast exits.
The 48-year-old took to Twitter after it was announced that Sarah Drews and Jessica Capshaw would not be returning to the medical drama after season 14.
The series regulars' departure is a massive shock to fans, Capshaw has been on the show for 10 seasons, playing Dr. Arizona Robbins. Drew has been on Grey’s for nine seasons, Dr. April Kepner.“It's unfortunate that @DEADLINE chooses to try to pit women against each other on #InternationalWomensDay #shameonyounotme,” Ellen who portrays Meredith Grey.
"I’m a big girl @DEADLINE can take shots at me if they want but to the fans please don’t fall into that trap. This is above my pay grade,” Pompeo continued.
Deadline claims that Ellen, the show's star aka Meredith Grey, has signed on for another two-years with the ABC network for approximately $20 million a year.
Shonda Rhimes released a statement of her own on Instagram. "It’s always hard for me to say goodbye to any of my characters. Both Arizona Robbins and April Kepner are not only beloved but iconic — both the LBGTQ and Christian communities are underrepresented on TV," she wrote. "I will be forever grateful to both Jessica and Sarah for bringing these characters to life with such vibrant performance and for inspiring women around the globe. They will always be a part of our Shondaland family.”
