For those who don’t already know, Giambattista Valli is famous for his tulle dresses. They’ve been worn by everyone from Kendall Jenner to JLo and always, always get the attention they deserve when showing up on a red carpet.
But as pretty as they are, we couldn’t help but notice one teeny, tiny similarity between these high fashion couture dresses and, well, our favourite shower loofah.
Showing his spring 2019 haute couture show in Paris overnight, Valli sent a parade of models down the runway in fresh versions of his classic tulle dresses. In hues of pink, red and white, Valli looked to 80s shapes and silhouettes for influence, with prom-like embellishments that stood out in a sea of pleated fabric. Finished with sparkling strappy sandals, Valli has cemented his love of all things feminine, tulle and pouf — and we’re here for it.
That being said, they do look a lot like a shower sponge. In the chicest possible way, of course!
With the same rounded feature, the same layered pleating and bright colours, the similarities are uncanny. And although Valli’s dresses would never be caught dead near water, we have to admit we kind of love the resemblance, because what’s fashion if it isn’t a little fun?
