The actress was the only Asian student in her class at school, and despite feeling very British, Chan always felt like the ‘other’. It wasn’t until she began university the breakthrough star felt comfortable in her skin.
“I’ve realised that actually what makes you different can be your strength. It’s a gradual process of learning to accept yourself…(and) not worrying too much about your appearance. I think looking after what’s on the inside is as important”.
Now with a flourishing career Chan is not slowing down. The Hollywood sensation covered the April issue of InStyle Australia and said she had no plans to slow down.
“I want to keep challenging people’s perceptions,” she told InStyle of her recent successes. “I hope that the message has been received by now that diversity does pay off. People want to see these stories”.
