Dating back to 1999, the original Saddle bag was introduced by Dior's then creative director John Galliano, who sent the style swinging down the brand's spring/summer 2000 runway. Fanfare followed, and soon every noughties style icon, including Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, owned a version of the bag.
Fast-forward almost two decades and now it's fashion frontrunners such as Olivia Palermo and Jeanne Damas who are making us want to sling a Saddle bag over our shoulder this season.
Dior's current creative director Maria Grazia Chui also makes a strong case for the equestrian-inspired style: "I consider this icon of the house's recent history the perfect accessory to deal with daily life," she explains. "The Saddle bag is so comfortable to wear with its long strap that you almost forget it's there... it is also practical as it allows you to carry everything you need with you."
We're convinced!
