ET reports that the 26-year-old singer unfollowed several celebrities that she once counted as close friends — including Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas and Iggy Azalea — and it's reportedly related to the aftermath of her drug overdose this summer.
The one common thread? The three have all publicly commented about Lovato's struggle with addiction. The singer told a fan account on Instagram that, "True friends don’t do an interview about you when you OD."
After Lovato's overdose, Gomez spoke to Elle, saying “ I reached out to her personally. I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to. I…I love her. I’ve known her since I was seven.” Gomez actually unfollowed Lovato first, when she shortened her following count to just 49 a few months ago.
Jonas, who Lovato has known since their days starring in the popular Disney franchise, Camp Rock, spoke up about her overdose on Twitter, sending his well wishes to the singer back in August.
Curiously, Lovato still follows the other Jonas brothers, Joe and Kevin, as well as their parents.
Azalea's friendship with Lovato is less well-known, but it seemed to be strong. Not only did the two friends perform together, but at one point Lovato was even going to be a bridesmaid in Azalea’s wedding to NBA star Nick Young back in 2016 (the wedding was eventually called off).
In July, Azalea spoke to ET about Lovato's substance abuse issues saying, “I had known about it, as a close friend. So I had really wanted for her to be the one to tell people that. And I worried a lot, as her friend, that something was going to leak or somebody would somehow take that and use it negatively against her, or to make her seem like she’s got a secret.”
The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer is reportedly doing well with her recovery. She broke her social media silence in November, posting a photo of herself at a voting booth on Election Day noting that she was "so grateful to be home in time to vote!"
