A gang of dreamers descended upon New York Fashion Week for Coach's spring 2019 runway show, bringing with them what the label dubbed as a "new, new romantic" spirit. Despite being inspired by the brand's American heritage, the collection was full of looks that we would happily wear Down Under this spring. From floaty frocks to clever styling hacks, here's five tips we're taking away from the show.
1. Invest in a romantic dress
Whether you go for a floor-sweeping silhouette or flirty mini, this season every wardrobe should include a floaty frock. At Coach, feminine ruffles, lace and floral motifs were kept in check by chunky footwear.
2. Layer with a vest
Once you’ve invested in said dress, add a vest to your repertoire next. The sleeveless layering piece will take you all the way through to summer in style.
3. Play with proportion
We love how the label let a frothy frock peek out from underneath a denim dress for added volume. Alternatively, wear a long-line coat over a mini or opt for an oversized sweater.
4. Up the contrast
A collaboration with Disney saw Coach splash cute pop culture characters across sporty hoodies and boxy tees that were juxtaposed against the label's pretty prairie-girl skirts.
5. Switch up your slip
The ubiquitous style isn’t going anywhere, but it has received a maximalist update in the form of sheer panels, decorative trims and handkerchief hemlines.
