And Chanel's spring/summer 2019 show at Paris Fashion Week was no different. Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais (where he holds all Chanel Paris Fashion Week shows) into a beach, complete with lifeguards, sand and a moving tide.
Models, such as Kaia Gerber and Akiima, walked barefoot across the sand, wearing oversized straw hats and carrying their shoes in hand. The seaside backdrop was even complete with its own tiki hut and mini boardwalk, which Lagerfeld stood on during the finale.
As for the clothes, models were dressed in black and white swimsuits and caps with colourful sandals and Chanel basket bags in hand. Despite the seaside location, Chanel classics such as tweed and suiting still made an appearance on the runway, alongside a few eyebrow raising inclusions, such as leggings and bike shorts.
