It's finally here! The InStyle and Audi Women Of Style awards are underway tonight in Sydney's ritzy Bar M with a host of Australian talent frocking up to celebrate this year's inspiring crop of recipients. Instagram phenomenon, author Celeste Barber made a splash on the red carpet in a dress by Rachel Gilbert.
Catching up on the red carpet, Celeste spoke about how life has changed since appearing on the InStyle Australia cover.
How has the response been to your first InStyle cover?
OMG, nuts. It was kinda crazy. I think mainly by me though, I was the one stopping by shopping centres going ‘It’s here. It’s here.’ No, it was so lovely, there was a lot of awesome feedback. It was great.
You had a lot of your famous followers commenting and interacting, did that surprise you?
No, it didn’t surprise me. They’re really supportive and really lovely. It was one of my most liked photos on Instagram, which is crazy. So, I wasn’t surprised, like I said they’re really supportive and it's fun.
Has your life changed now that your this huge cover star?
Well, I’m just busy. Not since the cover, but just in general in the past couple of years, it's kind of all kicking off now which is really nice.
Your new podcast, Celeste & Her Best, came out today.
Yes came out today, on Luminary. We launched our episode with Cindy Crawford, which was amazing. We all fly out to America tomorrow for my third US tour. Then, I’ve got a European tour as well – so, I’m busy.
What you do so well is bring the fun and the irony back into something quite serious. Why do you think that’s so important?
I actually don’t think it’s that serious to start with. I don’t think the fashion stuff is that serious, I think it's fun. I think it can be escapism for some people so I’m showing the other side of it. The funny side.
Congratulations on being an honouree.
I know, thank you. Were you as shocked as me?
Where are your Twisties?
I ate them. I ate them all.
From taking on Kim Kardashian to hanging out with Tom Ford, Celeste is Australia's hottest Instagram celebrity. In her long-running series called #CelesteChallengeAccepted, she posts side-by-side photos of herself (and sometimes her 'hot husband') recreating the internet's most ridiculous moments. What began as a parody of the fashion industry is now a phenomenon of its own, earning Barber an A-List following and her very own book aptly titled: Challenge Accepted!
A self-proclaimed InStyle fangirl - naming it as her “favourite magazine since forever”. Celeste even devoted a passage to it in her book. So, it's a no-brainer that the trailblazer made her cover debut on our March cover.
