While we're the first to admit that a good pair of jeans can be the foundation for any nighttime look (because who hasn't responded with "jeans and a nice top" to a friend texting what you're wearing), but in the 2000s it seemed like jeans, particularly, low-rise, were a go-to for the red carpet.
Forget the couture and off-the-runway gowns we've become accustomed to in recent years, there was once a time that light wash denim paired with everything from dresses, sequins and crop-tops was not only totally acceptable but the It trend of the decade. And yes, there are still some fashion favourites that still wear denim on the red carpet, but these days it's usually accompanied by a chic blazer or a matching off-the-shoulder top by Riccardo Tisci for Burberry, à la Kim Kardashian.
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's iconic double-denim look aside, we thought we'd revisit some of the times celebs turned to their trusty denim for the red carpet. And who knows, just like with some of the '90s biggest trends, perhaps a resurgence is imminent?
