Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner) has taken the next step in her transition process.
In her upcoming memoir, The Secrets of My Life, the 67-year-old announces that she underwent gender reassignment surgery in January this year.
"The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated," she writes.
"So why even consider it? Because it’s just a penis. It has no special gifts or use for me other [than]what I have said before, the ability to take a whiz in the woods," she continues. "I just want to have all the right parts. I am also tired of tucking the damn thing in all the time."
"I am going to live authentically for the first time in my life," she writes of how she felt after undergoing the procedure, where the penis and testicles are removed and the remaining skin is surgically repaired to create a vagina and clitoris.
"I am going to have an enthusiasm for life that I have not had in 39 years since the Olympics, almost two thirds of my life."
The highly anticipated tell-all book is set to be released on April 25.
Jenner will also embark upon a US-based book tour in the upcoming weeks.
