Representatives for the couple has confirmed the news in a statement which read: “Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate, ”as told by Scott Newman and Lindsay Maguire to People on Friday. “They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward.”
The reality stars wed back last year on Sumba Island in Indonesia however as alleged by TMZ, the couple did not obtain a marriage license in the US, therefore the union was never official in the eyes of the law.
A second source has come forward and revealed that tensions began to mount when Carter wanted to have children, which was documented on The Hills: New Beginnings when Carter questioned Jenner about the status of their marriage after he appeared to get a lap dance at a club.
“They butted heads over that constantly. Kaitlynn really wants to be a mom and never swayed from that. She thought Brody would change his mind, but he didn’t,” the second source added.
“It got so bad that Kaitlynn had actually moved out before they started filming, but then moved back in. Doing The Hills magnified a lot of things in their marriage,” the source continued. “And it became clear that it wasn’t going to work. They both knew it.”
The couple are still yet to publicly comment on the news of their split.
