'Big Little Lies' Season 2 Is On The Way
Calling all Big Little Lies fans! Sources have confirmed to 'TVLine' that HBO is set to start production on the second season in 2018.
A potential second season has excited - and baffled - fans since rumours began after the finale aired in April. The 7 episode miniseries covered the entire contents of the original book by Liane Moriarty, so how could there be a second season when the murderous plot about Monterey had come to it's end? Turns out, when your show scores a whopping eight Emmy Awards, you find a way to make it work.
Two weeks ago, BLL Executive Producer and writer David E. Kelley spoke about ideas for the second season.
“We’re kicking around ideas and trying to lasso the talent [and] get the band back together,” he said. “It’s just a lot of logistic things. But I’m optimistic because everyone wants to do it. We feel we still have storytelling to do. No decision has been made yet, but we’re hopeful. Where we left it, I felt like it did open the opportunity for a lot more storytelling.”
Even director Jean-Marc Vallée, who initially said he was done with the show, has agreed to come back.
“It’d be great to reunite the team and to do it,” he said at the Emmys. “Are we going to be able to do it, altogether? I wish. We’ll see.”
