Bella Hadid has opened up about online bullying and the pressure on her appearance in a new interview. The supermodel has walked for Victoria's Secret, Chanel, and is running major campaigns with Dior, Nike, Chrome Hearts and more. Despite her success, Bella told Harper’s Bazaar Arabia she still feels pressure to get plastic surgery.
“It’s really tough,” she reveals. “You’re going to get scrutinised for anything that you do. So if you’re really skinny and have a sick body and you don’t have a butt, people are going to say, ‘why do you have no butt?’”
“And then you go and get a fake butt and they get mad at you because you have a fake butt. And then you don’t have boobs, and it’s just a whole circulating circle.”
Bella is no stranger to the online obsession with her appearance, having been accused of lying about plastic surgery previously.
“The hardest part is being judged, and that’s what they talk to me about,” she continued. “it’s really sad because it doesn’t happen just in America or just in Europe, it happens everywhere in the world. Bullying is a crazy thing.”
Bella says her close family and friends keep her sane when she is facing all this negativity.
“I have a whole angel family. I think that there’s a lot of beautiful, spiritual beings in the world. They’re just floating, and they’re around if you feel a need for them. I draw strength from that completely.”
