Eyelash extensions and individual falsies aside, if you’re looking to create fuller lashes, the technique lies in the way you apply mascara, says Marc Jacobs' Global Makeup Artist Gilbert Soliz.
The trick to deposit the product at the root of lash, not the tips, says Soliz. “You want to create volume [at the root] and then you need it to taper off at the tip—you don’t want heavy clumping at the tip of your lashes,” which weighs them down and can make your eyes appear droopy.
Try: Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($39; at sephora.com.au).
DO… Wiggle the brush up from the root and rotate the brush so that you’re using all of the product, and distributing it evenly across the lash, says Soliz.
DON’T… Apply too much mascara on the bottom lashes, as this will “pull the look down,” says Soliz, as opposed to lifting them.
