Following Angie's post, Carlin took to his Instagram Stories to release his own statement.
"Being in the public, it's been brought to my attention that not everyone here is cheering for you," he spoke to the camera. "However, I have to live my life and it is true that Angie and I have gone our separate ways but it's for the best individually.
"Simply just wanting the best for her and wanting the best for me and being the best version of yourself is very important and, as some people already knew from previous posts, my mental health had taken a bit of a left turn and I simply want to be the best version of myself or be able to give the best version of myself to Angie."
Carlin finished by asking his fans to "please just be kind".
"Everyone is battling something that you may never understand or even see," he said. "We don't put everything in our lives on social media. We put the five per cent up that we want people to see. There's always other stuff going on so please think about that before you want to comment or anything.
"There's not going to be any other comments from us. There's a lot going on in the world right now. There's actually bigger things going on and it's kind of a shame that we even have to make an announcement about our relationship because truth be told there's no one else who has to do this in their life. But that'ts the nature of being in a show like that and in the public eye."
