Bachelor In Paradise's Lisa Hyde became the second female contestant to walk-out from the show during last night's emotional episode.
After three weeks living in paradise, Lisa and her beau Luke McLeod, decided it was time to return to the real-world–where they planned on forging a stronger bond. The pair dated for a few weeks before splitting after Luke broke the trust between them. InStyle Australia chatted to the Sydney local on Tuesday morning, finding out how Lisa's been doing since Fiji and whether she's moved on from the betrayal.
Keep reading for five minutes with... Lisa Hyde.
InStyle: Let's begin on a light-hearted note, how do you manage to drink sugary cocktails all day long and still have an amazing figure?
Lisa: “We did have time in the morning, we didn’t start filming till midday so we had time to get up and go for a run on the beach and get a workout in before all the mango dacquires.”
InStyle: Talk us through your decision to leave the show, we were a bit confused after watching last night's episode...
Lisa: "Yes and it was a bit confusing to me to watch as well because I could see that it wasn’t the outcome that we both knew.
"I had an opportunity with work come through and it was a really important deal which, I’m still working on now. Luke was very aware of this and we had one week left to go in Fiji and I asked Luke if he was ready to get out there and date as we both live in Sydney and he was very open to the idea of leaving with me.
"As fun as it sounds to be holidays to be drinking everyday but unfortunately business does call, and I’m the only one from the show who owns their own business and it was hard on me to have to be away from that."
InStyle: Do you regret that decision now that you have hindsight?
Lisa: "You have to make the best decisions. I met Luke and I pretty confident about where we were at, it’s pretty easy for people to say, why didn’t you just stay another week?
"Was it too early for you guys to leave? I think those are just lazy people who don’t have their own business and just don’t understand."
InStyle: We also saw Michael Turnbull leave last night…
Lisa: "You do see a lot of other people leave as well; it’s not just us. I completely understand why Michael left, it would be hard to just sit there and not see anyone walk through the doors that got is attention and it was the same with Laurina. I think they reacted in a very normal way and we all knew we’d be getting back to real life sooner or later."
InStyle: You and Michael had a connection in paradise, is there anything still there?
Lisa: "We have chatted since the show–there's definitely a special friendship there–and we will continue to chat. it's really hard not to like Michael, he's such a nice guy but I'm ready to meet someone the old fashion way. No more Bachie guys! (laughs).
InStyle: In regards to your break-up with Luke you confirmed that it was an issue of “broken trust.” Can you elaborate any further?
Lisa: "I don’t want to go into too many details, as it’s not too hard to guess what has happened from what I’ve already said. I know people are hurting from it and I’m not about shaming anyone."
InStyle: Have you healed and moved on from what we can imagine was a hurtful experience?
Lisa: "It's been a little while since and I have gone back to work and travel so I'm in a really good place. Obviously there's till going to be some upset and emotion when watching the show. It's not the outcome that I hoped for but you have to pull up your socks and keep going."
