The former rugby star and already famous TV personality (if you haven't watched his post-game interviews, please do so now) is bound to completely change the reality TV dating show as we know it - think Sophie Monk on last season of The Bachelorette.
But speaking to us ahead of the season premiere, Nick revealed something pretty shocking: he's never - and we mean ever - watched an episode of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, hell, not even Love Island. He not only couldn't name anyone from previous seasons, but he had no idea how the show worked, other than that he would "meet a few birds."
The Honey Badger was so in the dark about the entire process, he was confused about the red carpet being rolled out and all the limousines rolling up to the huge Bachelor mansion. Boy, could we have filled him in on what was to come...
Below, Nick reveals the what he looks for in a woman and whether he found her on the show.
So you'd never seen the Bachelor prior to going on the show?
No, I still haven’t. During filming, they give me an episode to watch and I watched 10 minutes - one of the episodes from a previous series, but I would even know any of the names of anyone. Actually, MJ [Matty J from last season of The Bachelor] hit me up, I caught up with him on one of these gigs we were doing. He is a good rooster and he gave me a few pointers and I took them on.
Did you have any expectations going into the show?
I didn’t have anything in mind, because I had no clue. I haven’t watched TV in six years, I don’t watch any of that stuff, I couldn’t even make something up I was just a complete deer in the headlights. But that's the best way to do it, you've got to learn one way or another. It was definitely an eye-opener.
Did someone, in particular, stand out from that first meeting?
Yeah. Of course, you know we are human beings, naturally, we see things and straightaway we make judgements, to ourselves, and yeah there is definitely some I knew we were worth my time and definitely some I was interested to find out more. But of course, you can’t put them in concrete.
Can you describe your ideal woman?
Someone you actually want to spend time with, someone who is unconditional in their approach and service to others in life - as in giving back to those less fortunate and living a life of meaning is probably one of the more important things because that is something worth getting behind.
Did any women tick those particular boxes?
Yeah, actually there were a couple that I was intrigued, in that area, by.
What's your deal breaker?
Deal breaker for me is a couch potato, someone who is not into trying new things, someone not into adventures and not into saying yes to things they don’t know anything about.
We know you can't reveal whether you're in love, but did you develop feelings while on the show?
Yes, definitely as you say it is pretty tight-lipped, but developing feelings is a very natural progression and I’m happy where I’m at now.
