Amid the AU $10.7 million worth of jewellery that Miranda Kerr handed back to U.S. government officials is a 11.72 carat heart-shaped diamond pendant, a generous Valentine’s Day gift from former boyfriend and Malaysian financier Jho Low.
Low is currently under investigation in relation to an ongoing corruption case, according to Fairfax the U.S. is repossessing assets allegedly bought fraudulently with money from Malaysian fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd. 1Malaysia has denied any wrongdoing and Low has not been accused of a crime.
The 34-year-old Australian model and Low dated for a year in 2014. Kerr wed Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel (pictured above) last month.
A spokesperson from the U.S. Justice department confirmed Kerr co-operated in the transfer of AU $10.7 million worth of jewellery from her L.A. home.
“From the start of the inquiry, Miranda Kerr co-operated fully and pledged to turn over the gifts of jewellery to the government,” he said. “Ms Kerr will continue to assist with the inquiry in any way she can.”
Leonardo DiCaprio has also been involved in the investigation, and agreed to turn over gifts identified in the lawsuit, including an Oscar won by Marlon Brando.
