Ariana Grande's music video for her smash hit Thank U, Next is paying homage to one of your favourite films from the early 00s Mean Girls. The 25-year-old has even asked the actor behind the film’s original love interest, Jonathan Bennett (Aaron Samuels), to join her in on the fun.
Taking to social media to share behind-the-scenes images, Jonathan wrote: "Aaron ❤️ Regina. Thank U, Next" and "Grool" referencing one of Lindsay Lohan's famous lines from the romantic comedy.
Thank U, Next, name checks four of Ariana's former flames, but the song is far from a diss track and more about learning lessons after failed relationships and finding love in yourself, and not in a man.
Mean Girls is just one of the beloved movies Grande is parodying she also re-enacts more roles for the music video of her chart-topping single — including 13 Going on 30, Bring It On, and Legally Blonde.
