If you haven't heard of Arcona Skincare, you're in luck, because we're here to tell you all about the luxury skincare brand that's scored rave reviews from users since it launched in Sephora in stores across Australia.
Born from spa origins in Los Angeles, Arcona has grown into a brand that is known and respected for high-quality, luxury skincare products that don't compromise the integrity of pure ingredients with unnecessary chemicals, perfumes or other toxic ingredients. With celebrity fans including Zoë Kravitz and Mandy Moore, and an impressive number of natural, luxury products, it's no wonder the range has become a must-have for skincare addicts.
We caught up with Arcona's co-founder Chanel Jenae, to chat about her favourite products and the most important parts of the skincare routine.
What inspired you to create Arcona Skincare?
A desire to create resulted oriented products that are pure, clean and efficacious.
What makes Arcona different to other skincare brands?
We believe everything you put on the body you’re putting into the body, so we like to use the purest, cleanest ingredients with the highest concentration of actives in our products. We cold-process ours and use chiral ingredients, as well as make our products in small batches, which allow for better results.
What is your must-have Arcona product?
It’s a toss-up between White Tea Cleanser ($60; sephora.com.au), which is a great all-in-one product that cleanses, tones, and gentle exfoliates the skin, but it’d have to go with Gentle Solution ($75; sephora.com.au), because it resurfaces, polishes, and infuses skin with antioxidants. It also helps to purify pores, brighten, and makes your skin look beautiful!
The brand began with a spa, why do you think it’s important for people to visit spas and have treatments, such as facials?
It’s important to go in and have treatments, because you’re having that one-on-one time with someone who is extremely knowledgeable about skin. Often times [they] are using products on you with higher concentrations of ingredients, that are stronger than what you use to really purify, deep cleanse, and exfoliate the skin, as well as tools and techniques such as light therapy, lymphatic drainage and massage that really help take your skin to its next level that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to achieve at home.
What is the most common mistake you see women make in their at-home skincare routine?
Under-cleansing, over-exfoliating and moisturizing, and not protecting the skin rain or shine 356 days a year.
What are your tips for picking the right products to suit your skin-type?
My best tips are to seek out a trusted dermatologist or esthetician to evaluate your skin, understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and what work for one person or celebrity may not work the same for you, and understand that your skin is constantly changing and evolving, so it’s important to tweak your regime according to the time of year or based on what your skin concerns are by staying in close contact with your esthetician or dermatologist.
What are your summer-skincare tips?
Cleanse, tone, and use SPF—making sure to reapply it throughout the day, especially if you’re in direct sunlight. Also make sure to drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
