With another season of The Bachelorette done and dusted, the question on everyone's lips is who will be the next Bachelor?
InStyle Australia caught up with Apollo Jackson to get the official word on whether he'll be the next Matty J, and found out exactly what type of girl the 25-year-old is looking for!
InStyle: Australia is hoping you're the next Bachelor, any truth to that rumour?
Apollo: It's still pretty fresh and I'm still looking for love, and it's something that I would be open to and because people have seen a bit of a snapshot of who I am, I think it would definitely attract the right people.
InStyle: What kind of girl are you looking for?
Apollo: Someone who is fun, outgoing down-to-earth and someone who has a big heart for other people. They can't take themselves too seriously either!
InStyle: What do you have to say to people who said you went on the show just to raise your profile?
Apollo: It's really weird because I have singing and song-songwriting since I was twelve, and the particular song that's come out I had written when I was in recovery in hospital. It's about celebrating life and I had been though a big stage of depression when I had my heart attack. I was suppose to release that song at the start of the year and I was never confident and my friends were like, 'you've got to release it!' and then I was touring with magic and then went on the show, so I didn't get the chance.
When my website was updated around two-months-ago the guy who updated it put my album art back up for it, and everyone's only picked it up this week saying it's a "new career" move, and it's not new. I'm an entertainer and that's what I do, at the end of the day if I was performing magic or singing on a street-corner, i'd still be doing it because it's what I love!
InStyle: Apollo, you should do a breadstick commercial after your final date with Sophie Monk. Was it as awkward as it looked on television?
Apollo: Probably the most awkward date in Australian television history. It’s now the go-to for any awkward moment; the word is “breadstick” and it’s already started on the Gold Coast, apparently.
InStyle: Was there anything we didn't see?
Apollo: I did spill sort of spill my heart out at one stage, it was very awkward. I was so exhausted it had been a massive day, and I was nervous I just froze and I didn't have the right words to say and was stumbling. Like the breadsticks on the table in front of me, I crumbled.
What was the first thing that you did after leaving the mansion?
Apollo: I went back to the hotel room and ordered a few pizzas! I’ve been journaling since I’ve been in the house, just experiences and how I was feeling. I just went back through my journal and made a list of all the amazing and positive experiences. And smashed a few pizzas too!
InStyle: You've spoken about your transformation from overweight to turning into Thor's actual body double. Where you always as confident as you are now?
Apollo: I'm more confident now, but probably more confident in being who I am. When I was overweight I was a bit shy to be who I am; I'm a fun, adventurous, nerdy dude and now I'm happy to own that nerdy, quirky side.
InStyle: We didn't get to see your nerdy side this season. What's the nerdiest thing about you?
Apollo: I'm a massive Batman fan, and my room is full of Batman memorabilia –you've got batman pinball machines! I play a lot of nerd games as well, Magic The Gathering and Dungeons And Dragons (laughs). It's like next-level nerd.
