The time has come—it's swimsuit season. And while that means blissful beach days are upon us, it also means diving head first into the often-dreaded process of shopping for a cossie.
Whether you favour an itsy-bitsy bikini or a chic maillot, finding a style that makes you feel confident and comfortable on the sand is key, but bad lighting and squishy fitting rooms aren’t exactly congruent to either. That's where Andie comes in.
The US label, which has just launched into Australia, doesn't sell in stores, favouring a direct-to-consumer, online-only approach. I know what you're thinking: how does guessing your ideal fit from a computer screen make swimsuit shopping any easier? Well, it doesn't, but that's why Andie actually encourages its customers to buy a few different styles, sizes and colours, try them on at home, and then return what they don't want, guilt free.
Thanks to the label's unlimited free returns policy you won't be left out of pocket, no matter how many times you change your mind. But it probably won't take too long to find a style that you love. The brand launched 18-months ago with a collection of streamlined one pieces that sold out three times, catching the attention of actress Demi Moore who decided to invest in the swimwear start-up.
“I was drawn to Andie's approach, which puts women at the forefront. Shopping for a swimsuit can be stressful and time-consuming for so many women, but Andie's at-home try-on makes finding the perfect swimsuit an incredibly simple, easy and comfortable experience,” said Moore.
That boost helped make it possible to expand the range to include bikinis and new colourways, all designed with the women who will be wearing them front of mind. Andie founder and CEO Melanie Travis personally emails everyone who purchases a swimsuit to ask for their feedback, and every response is taken into consideration when designing new styles and updating existing shapes.
Our picks? The black ribbed Tulum swimsuit—it will never go out of style—and the Wynwood one-shoulder bikini in summery terracotta.
