There's a reason so many of us fell in love with A Farmer Wants A Wife when it first aired on our screens. It's wholesome, entertaining - and unlike other popular dating series, actually ends in a long-lasting relationship for many. In fact, in Australia alone, the series has resulted in nine marriages and 20 babies.
But before the show airs on July 7, a new rumour has surfaced that sounds all too familiar. One farmer is expected to be pulling a "Blake Garvey", dumping his winner for the runner-up.
For those that need a refresher in Australian reality TV history, Blake Garvey was the Bachelor, who, in 2013, proposed to future Bachelorette Sam Frost in the season finale. Just two weeks before the finale aired, he split up with Frost to pursue a relationship with third-place contestant Louise Pilidge.
Appearing on radio show Fifi, Fev and Byron this week, a person who claims to be friends with the winner said: "My friend is on Farmer Wants a Wife. I know that she ends up with the guy. He ends up choosing her at the end — and then he ends up going to the other girl that he didn't choose!"
Fifi Box replied, "Such good dirt. Such a good secret! I've never wanted to watch it more!"
We don't know much more about the alleged rumour, but it sounds a lot more heartbreaking than what we've come to expect from the dating series.
