While cut out dresses are not everyone's cup of tea—and certainly not the first style that springs to mind when thinking about elegant red carpet looks—Miranda Kerr's recent take on the trend might just convince you otherwise.
The Australian star's floral Tadashi Shoji dress features an open panel at the back that cuts into both sides of the waist, revealing just the right amount of skin. The high-neck, floor-sweeping shape of the gown works to downplay the revealing panel, as does the voluminous skirt, which flows out from the nipped waistband.
Basically, it's all about balance. And you can rework the balance to suit your personal style. If you would prefer to show-off your killer legs, go for a cut out dress with longer sleeves, if you don't want to show your mid-section, look for a dress that highlights your shoulders or décolletage instead.
