Move Over Winged Liner! This ‘90s Inspired Make-Up Trend Is Back
As fashion month rolls on, we look to Milan for the new wave of beauty inspiration. The Italian fashion houses are typically brimming with glamour and opulence – Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Versace just to make a few. Showcasing what’s on the leading edge of hair and make-up trends. The key takeaway? The return of slightly smudged, worn-in eyeliner after seasons of endless sharp lines.
Versace’s autumn winter 19 runway saw supermodels - including the likes of Candice Swanepoel, Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Gigi, and Bella Hadid - stomp down the runway in what can be best described as ‘sexy grunge’ beauty.
We’re talking low slicked wet-look hair and smudged eyeliner but with a twist. The hair was styled into low ponytails with middle parts adorned with ornate gold hairclips and finished with undone braids.
When it comes to make-up, Donatella’s supermodel army all wore worn-in eyeliner along the waterline. Nothing like the clean and crisp looks of seasons past. The collections of Giorgio Armani and Jill Sander also reference the quintessentially ‘90s look with models sporting jet black kohl cat eyes.
