1. Redefine your signature scent
Treat yourself to a new fragrance! Finding a new favourite is fun, but remember, after the first four you could find they all start to smell the same. That’s called ‘nose fatigue’ and yep, it’s a thing. It’s why some perfume shops offer coffee beans for customers to smell between trying scents to wake up the olfactory system by giving it something different. (If that’s not a great reason to pick up a coffee on the way to the perfume counter, what is?) While you’re there, try a spritz of Scandal A Paris by Jean Paul Gaultier. It’s a glorious, blush coloured honey and gardenia-based fragrance with JPG’s wicked humour apparent in the pair of legs on the bottle top. So French, so cheeky.
2. Go pretty in pink
A lick of lippy has been perking up the sisterhood for decades, so let’s not forget this tried and true remedy for the blues. If you haven’t taken a stroll around the makeup counters lately, colour is IN and pink is everywhere in all its glorious incarnations; shell, peachy, petal-soft, fuchsia, flamingo, you name it.
Try a few on your inner wrist to find a cool or warm tone to suit your skin’s undertones in order to find your perfect match. In fact, right now you can literally say you’ve found the shade that has your name on it with Estée Lauder offering free engraving on their Pure Color Envy Hi-Lustre lipsticks for a limited time when you order online. Run, don’t walk.
3. Gift yourself, do some good
Nothing makes a difference to your look like a statement piece of jewellery. Invest in a classic piece like a pendant or a pair of earrings that will elevate any look and make them your new season go-to.
You can also make a difference of another kind with a piece that actually gives back, like the Jacqueline Rabun designed Mercy heart pendant from Georg Jensen, which donates directly to Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. It’s a gift-to-self you can feel especially good about.
