Everything '70s vintage is hip again, and the classic geometric lines of this luxury timepiece are no exception. Following a patient wait for its fans to see this beauty reborn, we welcome back the Laureato.
BACK TO THE '70s
To understand the pedigree of this iconic piece, we need to step back in time for a moment. The ’70s was an era when old codes were broken, the establishment was contested by the young and creativity was set free. Bold new designs, new shapes and new ideas were born, creating an era-defining style.
FORM AND FUNCTION
The Girard-Perregaux Laureato was born in 1975, transgressing the codes of watchmaking. This watch was an answer to the new trend in sportswear, and an emerging demand for sporty yet elegant timepieces. People were searching for watches with a modern look that could be worn for every occasion.
This quest for comfort and precision led to a major change in watchmaking; up to this point, a bracelet was designed separately and then added to a watch case, as opposed to both parts being designed as one piece.
For the first time, Laureato integrated the bracelet into the overall design of the watch. This new watch secured its place as a true design object with a deep study for its shape and ergonomics. The perfect match between case and bracelet drastically improved the wearer’s comfort, and suddenly design wasn’t only about aesthetics anymore.
REBORN AND REIMAGINED
With the resurgence of '70s vintage styles, the Laureato range has recently been re-released and reimagined to encompass modern materials including ceramic and 18ct rose gold. The Girard-Perregaux Laureato comes in a choice of sizes, including a bold 42mm, classic 38mm and a refined 34mm.
All feature an in-house calibre movement and exceptional craftsmanship, particularly in diamond settings and finishes, including polished and satin finish on both the case and bracelet. Since its origin, Laureato’s signature bezel has been diamond-set with graduating diamond sizes, hand selected to perfectly fit and highlight the lines of the octagon, further illustrating the attention to every design detail.
Active individuals have traditionally chosen the Girard-Perregaux Laureato not only for its bold style, but also for its ergonomics, balance, reliability, robustness and precision – everything they need for a dynamic, stylish lifestyle.
