Next week, I'll be taking a huge bite out of the Big Apple, when I arrive for a 10-day stay. I cannot wait to get to New York, to immerse myself in one of the most fast-paced and, for me, inspiring cities, in the world. Having travelled there before, I know my hot spots. Here are the top five, for fashion, food and fun...
Bergdorf Goodman The department store du jour in the shopping capital of the world, stocking every designer label your heart desires in the most stylish of surrounds. I plan to spend a solid day here, shopping up a storm. When I need to refuel, the in-store brasserie on the fifth floor will serve me well. Fitted out by interiors queen, Kelly Wearstler, it overlooks Central Park and is incredibly chic; 5th Avenue at 58th Street, New York/ +1 1800 558 1855.
Delicatessen Situated in downtown Soho, this is my favourite place for brunch. It's all about simple ingredients, cooked well, served in modern surrounds. You can't go past the herb and goat's cheese omelette, or, if you are feeling particularly indulgent, the buttermilk pancakes with caramelised apple and citrus cream. Delicious; 54 Prince Street, New York,/ +1 212 226 0211.
Boom Boom Room For a night hob-nobbing with the who's who of the New York social set, this relatively new nightclub within the East Coast branch of The Standard Hotel is THE place to hit for a serious night of cocktails and dancing until the early hours. And you can christen the new little party dress you will have inevitably purchased already!; 848 Washington Street New York,/ +1 212 645 4646.
Opening Ceremony A shopping mecca for the downtown girl. Stocking more edgy international and local brands, including two of my favourites, Alexander Wang and Acne, as well as the store's own label which has a huge cult following (I am obsessed with its diffusion line, designed by the perennially cool, Chloe Sevigny). You'll also find perfect gifts for your man here; 35 Howard Street, New York/ +1 212 219 2688.
Resurrection This New York outpost of the original LA store is the ultimate for designer vintage and collectors' items. They have the best selection of vintage Chanel, Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent that I have ever seen, and I always find something I fall desperately in love with; 17 Mott Street, New York/ +1 212 625 1374. -KellyHume
