Best known for his paintings and installations sprawled across building facades and urban city surfaces, New York-based artist, Kenny Scharf, joined the likes of Andy Warhol and Keith Haring when he exploded onto the scene during the early 1980s.
Scharf's latest medium for his pop surrealism is none other than the packaging of Kiehl's iconic Crème de Corps. And, in a bid to support children's causes worldwide, Kiehl's Holiday Crème de Corps Collection aims to raise $200, 000 with 100% of the proceeds from sales being donated.
"I chose Kiehl's because they asked me and I've known about the product and the company since I moved to New York in '78. I lived in East Village and the store was always there and was kind of interesting," admits Scharf.
He adds, "The Kiehl's packaging features my art called Globo Mundo that I customised for Kiehl's. Globo Mundo means representing the whole world or globe. This application of my art on the package was inspired by Kiehl's, its patrons and their work in communities around the world."
The four-piece Crème de Corps holiday collection includes the Crème de Corps original (available in two different sizes), Crème de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter and a Limited Edition Kenny Scharf Exclusive "Squirt" Collectible (a reoccurring character which features extensively in Scharf's work – the perfect gift for the art enthusiast).
The limited-edition collection is available in store now (www.kiehls.com.au).
