Get the look: Diane Kruger's front twist

When beauty trailblazers forego bouncy blow-dries and beachy waves for funky twists, loosely pinned ponytails and top-knot buns, it's a sure sign that up-dos are making a comeback.

Diane Kruger is championing the trend here with this front twisted 'do. I spoke to hairstylist to the stars, George Giavis, from The Blonde Room in Sydney, to get his expert tips and tricks to twisting this look at home.

"Kruger is always so adventurous with her hair and we have seen her wear some beautiful up dos on the red carpet of late. She is always a trendsetter when it comes to hair and this front bun is no exception." Giavis said.

Here's how to get the look:

STEP 1: Spritz a root-lifting spray onto damp hair and blow-dry the hair upside down to help create volume. This is essential for any up do style.

STEP 2: Divide your hair into five sections, one in the front, two at the side and two at the back. Use hair clamps to keep each section in place as you style.

STEP 3: Start by gathering the front piece. Lift up from the scalp and start twisting about 5cm away from the beginning of your hairline. Continue twisting the hair back to your crown and fix with a bobby pin .

STEP 4: Take the two side pieces, twist and pull to the back of your head and secure in place by knotting it up around itself. You will also need a few pins for added hold.

STEP 5: Twist the remaining two pieces towards the nape and fix with a bobby pin to complete the look.

STEP 6: Fix with hair spray

Finally, team your new, celebrity inspired hairstyle with a sculptured cheekbone, NARS Blush in Orgasm ($62; meccacosmetica.com.au) is a failsafe shade. A soft, pink-hued lip is also a must. Give your peepers a pretty touch with a shimmering gold eyeshadow, line your eyes in black and finish of with a coat of mascara. Voila!
