Have only 10 minutes to achieve red-carpet worthy hair? Miranda Kerr's hairstylist David Keough tells InStyle how he constructed Miranda's mane into a top-knot bun, for the Annual G'Day USA Los Angeles gala, in three easy steps:
Here's how to get the look…
1. Start by blow-drying the hair out to create body. "After that I tilt the head back slightly whilst I brush the hair into a high ponytail," says Keough. "I do this so when you place the elastic in the hair, it makes the nape hair tight – a sleek look at the back."
Tip: "Depending on the thickness of hair, I might just do a little back-combing, teasing in the pony to give it bulk."
2. When you are left with a swinging ponytail, hold the end of the hair and twist it until it nearly turns back in on itself, wrapping it around the elastic.
3. Have a selection of bobby pins and French pins at the ready. Start to secure the twisted hair, "with a couple of pins first so you can take your hand away," says Keough. "Then create the desired shape of the bun. Try to get a look from the side with a hand mirror so the shape looks good from the profile too."
Tip: "What I like to do is then use a tail comb to smooth hair down around the head, and to tuck some hair into the chignon."
